Our tongue is often referred to as one of the strongest muscles our body and it does a lot or work for us. Consider that without our tongue we won’t be able to talk or eat all your favourite food, so we’re rather lucky that we actually have one. In some cases our tongues tend to develop weird-looking, often barely explainable conditions. We made a list of things that can go wrong with your tongue:
1. Fissured Tongue
Having this condition will make your tongue appear full of cracks and grooves on the top surface. Fissures may vary in depth and there will often be a prominent fissure in the very middle of the tongue. Found in about 5 percent of the population this condition is common in men and people of old age. 80% of children with Down syndrome appear to have this condition present. What causes fissured tongue is unknown, but, thankfully, it is also harmless. No treatment is deemed necessary as there aren’t any symptoms associated with this condition.
